Most dark chocolate sold in India is blended cacao from multiple origins, processed to taste consistent. That's fine for everyday eating. This is something different.
The Chuncho bean is indigenous to the Cuzco highlands of Peru — not a commercial variety, not a hybrid. Cacaosuyo grows it at altitude, works directly with local farmers, and tracks every batch from harvest to bar. Nothing is added to smooth things out or cover the cacao's natural character.
At 70%, you'd expect bitterness up front. Instead, the bar opens with red berries and a faint citrus note, then dries down into wood and earth. The finish lingers. It's complex in the way a good filter coffee is complex — not sweet, not sharp, just layered.
It won at the International Chocolate Awards in 2023, 2024, and 2025. It's in multiple Top 100 lists globally. For a small Peruvian maker, that's a real track record.
